Adventure architecture
Abstract
To develop interactive and narrative place utlizing new technology and media.
City as a interactive machine
Our bodies are in constant interactions with the city through computing devices and networks. The city itself has become the spatial and material embodiment . In this context, architecture in the city is becoming a kind of “interface” or “advanced machine” mediating people and information as well as people and nature.
Interactive
Architecture now could consist of new elements such as windows and walls with sensors and be flexible to our activities. When the basic shape and function of basic architectul form dissolve into flows, energy, information. Forms are interpreted not as autonomous objects but as an integrated system of functions/ functionality.
Communication
Narrative story/Theme
The new physical form will be established from the way we experience, interact with and relate to things in our everyday environments. The form will change as they connect to communication, intelligence and information flows. As technology is integrated increasingly and invisibly into our surroundings, there will be more and more fun experience and activities to add to our daily life.
The computational and traditional materials in this way blend together, and will enhance our daily life and experiences.
There is the table becoming the chair, the floor, the wall; the table is the chair, the floor, the wall simultaneously. These "multipurpose" forms are generated from simple materials but with new performances.
The close relationship between material, structure, and construction process is transformed into that between information, program, and fabrication process. However, at the turn of a new age there needs to be serious visionaries with persistent spirituality to impact history. In other words, the best way to predict the future is to invent it.
Adventure : the experiences
The computational and traditional materials in this way blend together, and will enhance our daily life and experiences.
CONTEXT
BIX (Peter Cook)
BIX is a permanent light- and media installation for the Kunsthaus Graz in Austria by realities:united architects from Berlin A matrix of 930 fluorescent lamps is integrated into the eastern acrylic glass facade of the biomorphic building structure of the new Kunsthaus in GrazAustria. Through the possibility to individually adjust the lamps’ brightness at an infinite variability with 20 frames/second images, films and animations can be displayed - the Kunsthaus' skin is transformed into a giant low resolution computer display.
Salt Water Pavilion (Kas oosterhuis)
Kas Oosterhuis (Oosterhuis Associates) and Lars Spuybroek (of the Rotterdam office NOX) have been going on about it for years. The commission to design the Water Pavilion, a building to house an exhibition about water on the former construction island Neeltje Jans, finally provided them with an opportunity to put these ideas into practice in a permanent structure
Prada Store : New York(Rem Koolhuas)
It's a 23,000- square-foot epicenter, the place where the tectonic plates of merchandising and architecture collide and the earth moves—or so goes the plan. The epicenter concept for Prada grew out of a two-month research project in which Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas and his Rotterdam-based firm, the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), investigated ways to reinvent the retail experience for the famous Italian fashion house.
