Graphic design and programing
Examples : Shift magazine , Takeshi Murata
The computational power of programming has become an essential tool in all forms of cultural production, and it has become the constant companion of creativities.
I am a designer and an architect. What I am interested in is examining the role of software and generative strategies in current digital art and design. These exercises are my explorations to produce interesting graphics using processing as a programming tool.
Traditional tool (Photoshop….) You need good drawing skill to make pretty graphics or designs. There aren’t too much going on after you finish the drawing. You simply can not interactive with your drawings or designs.
Programming tool (Processing) You don't need to be really good at drawing to generate interesting graphics. On the other hand, the limited drawing tools might not give you enough abilities to make very detailed graphics or designs. It also might need a lot of trial and error practices to make really interesting graphics. On the other hand it’s very different because you can add a lot of interactive ideas into it. A lot of possibilities also come out because of the flexible nature in coding.
